British-Indian vodka brand Desi Daru has partnered with Charity: Water on a campaign to provide clean water to those in need.

Charity: Water is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing access to clean water worldwide.

Desi Daru Vodka was founded by Mohit Singh and Aneet Kaur, a British-born Indian couple, to showcase the finest elements of their home countries.

Under the new initiative, Desi Daru sets out to provide clean drinking water for one person for an entire day from every 25ml measure of vodka sold, with a full bottle providing clean water for a whole month.

In cooperation with the charity, the brand focuses on rainwater harvesting in regions where groundwater is unsafe or scarce. Rainwater harvesting offers a simple, sustainable solution, providing reliable and clean drinking water that meets safety standards all year round.

The campaign aims to directly address one of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges: more than 700 million people around the globe live without access to clean water.

In India alone, millions of families struggle daily to find safe drinking water, often walking miles to collect it. Waterborne diseases are a leading cause of illness in the country.

Singh commented on the new campaign: “It’s personal. Growing up, I witnessed first-hand the challenges faced by communities in India due to the lack of clean water. With Desi Daru, we always knew that we wanted to make a meaningful impact on our home country, which inspires our brand.

“Working with Charity: Water allows us to give back and ensure that every sip that our customers take contributes to a better future for someone in need.”

All  public donations to Charity: Water go towards funding water projects, while a separate group of private donors will cover the operational costs.

Since 2008, the non-profit organisation has completed over 25,000 water projects in India, impacting more than 830,000 lives.

Through the One Sip, One Day campaign, Desi Daru aims to ensure that every bottle sold serves as a meaningful contribution towards solving the water crisis in India, as without access to clean water, India’s education, health, and economic development all suffer.

Singh added: “Our vision isn’t just to create world-class liquid. We want to make sure that we’re giving back and trying to make the world a better place, one bottle at a time.”

Desi Daru is available on Amazon for £39.94 (US$54) for a 700ml bottle, as well as in the UK through Master of Malt, Selfridges, and Amathus Drinks.

Earlier this year, the vodka brand partnered with Dhall Food and Beverages to make its debut in South Asia and the Middle East.
