Proof & Co Australia goes into administration
By Nicola CarruthersAsia Pacific-based independent spirits distributor Proof & Company has put its Australian business into voluntary administration after facing a “local economic downturn”.

Proof & Company operates in four markets: Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
Last Friday (25 April), the company announced on LinkedIn that it had taken the “difficult decision” to place its Australian arm, Sa’Pere Drinks, into administration. Shane Justin Cremin and Brent Leigh Morgan have been appointed as its administrators.
The statement said: “This decision was not made lightly. It reflects the challenges of a local economic downturn and a changing landscape in the spirits industry. As is customary in this process, the appointed administrators will explore all options and seek to achieve the best possible outcome for all involved.
“While this is a difficult period in the industry, it is also one of reflection, renewal, and resilience.”
The company has not disclosed the number of jobs that could be affected by this move.
The statement noted that the company would continue to operate as normal in its other markets (Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand), along with its Proof Creative business and cocktail bar, 28 HongKong Street in Singapore.
Proof & Company was founded in 2012. Today, the firm distributes over 50 independent spirits brands and has worked with more than 10,000 hospitality partners.
Through its Proof Creative business, the company also provides consultancy services for bars, working with the likes of Atlas in Singapore and La Madonna in Melbourne.
The company has more than 80 employees across its four offices.
Proof & Company is also behind spirits distribution system EcoSpirits, which has gained backing from French spirits firms Pernod Ricard and Rémy Cointreau.
EcoSpirits became an independent business from Proof & Company in 2020 following a technology spinout. EcoSpirits licenses the use of its closed-loop technology to customers worldwide, including Proof & Company, Avallen Calvados and Takamaka Rum.
