Glenmorangie updates Lasanta age statement

Scottish whisky distillery Glenmorangie has reimagined its Sherry-finished expression Lasanta, raising its age statement from 12 to 15 years old.

The new Glenmorangie Lasanta has been aged an extra three years

Aged in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks, Glenmorangie Lasanta was first introduced in the 1990s as a non-age statement expression, and has been a 12-year-old single malt since 2010.

Now upgraded to a 15-year-old, the revamp is the result of Dr Bill Lumsden, director of whisky creation, and master blender Gillian Macdonald’s belief that they could make Lasanta ‘even more deliciously complex’.

Aged for an additional three years, the result is tastes and aromas of raisins and honey, toffee, clove and cinnamon.

Lumsden said: “With its rich spice and luscious sweetness, Glenmorangie Lasanta is a whisky that elicits the radiant wonder of sunset and has been a favourite of Glenmorangie fans for some time.

“Now aged for 15 years in an enhanced selection of Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks, we’ve introduced even more complex and elegant notes to this whisky, all working together in delicious balance.”

Alongside Glenmorangie Lasanta, the distillery’s core range includes the reimagined 12-year-old The Original, Port cask-finished Quinta Ruban, and dessert wine-cask-finished whisky The Nectar, which was upgraded to a 16-year-old in 2023.

Offered at 43% ABV, the reimagined Lasanta retails for £54 (US$69) and will be available to purchase in the UK from April onwards at the distillery’s website and the Glenmorangie visitor centre in Tain.

Last year, Glenmorangie launched the fifth expression in its Tale Of series, A Tale of Ice Cream.

Last month, a complaint accusing the expression of appealing to under-18s was dismissed.

In January 2025, Glenmorangie partnered with Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford for its new campaign series. The video caused some backlash from Scottish nationals due to Ford wearing an English-made kilt.
