Third Eye Distillery debuts Otherside whisky
By Miona MadsenStranger & Sons Gin maker Third Eye Distillery has made its first move into whisky with the launch of Otherside Subcontinental Whiskey.

The Goa-based producer has responded to the rise and demand for premium Indian spirits by launching its first whisky, entering the country’s largest spirits category.
Otherside Subcontinental Whiskey was created at the heart of the subcontinent and aged across India’s tropical belt, ’embracing the land’s extremes from heat, monsoons, and shifting seasons’.
The blended Indian whisky is made and aged in India and finished in charred ex-Bourbon barrels using the Solera method.
The process is said to result in layers of complexity and depth.
Rahul Mehra, CEO and co-founder of Third Eye Distillery, commented: “Whisky is a crowded room. The impact of our climate, geography, and ageing environment makes this a whisky that can only come from here, redefining India’s provenance in whisky making.
“For too long, Scots have set rules for whisky, and it’s about time India starts writing its own story.
“We have taken the time to create a whisky that truly puts India front and centre – not just in name, but in representation. Otherside Whiskey isn’t about labels or legacy – India isn’t just ready to lead in whisky, it’s time we stopped following altogether.”
Bottled at 40% ABV, Otherside is available in Goa and Maharashtra, India, priced between INR₹2,100-₹3,250 (US$24-$37).
Third Eye Distillery in Goa launched its first spirit, Stranger & Sons Gin, in 2018.
Last year, the distillery created Aer gin exclusively for the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai and partnered with Subko Coffee House to create a small-batch ready-to-drink Filtr Martini.
