Pantalones Tequila drops down under

True Detective actor Matthew McConaughey has launched his organic Tequila brand Pantalones in Australia – its first international market.

Pantalones Tequila’s three expressions – blanco, reposado and añejo – are now available in Australia at spirits retailer Dan Murphy’s, owned by Endeavour Group.

The entry into the market is part of the brand’s global expansion plan.

Andrew T Chrisomalis, co-founder and chairman of Pantalones, said: “With an overwhelmingly successful first year in the US, we are really looking forward to taking Pantalones to the next level with our first international market, Australia.

“The Australian spirit truly embodies everything Pantalones stands for. This is the perfect place to bring our brand to next, and we hope Aussies love our organic Tequila as much as we expect they will.”

The Tequila is made from 100% organic Blue Weber agave and produced at a family-owned distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco.

Pantalones Organic Tequila is dedicated to sustainability, is USDA-certified organic, and is a member of 1% for the Planet.

The brand collaborates with the Surfrider Foundation, which focuses on protecting oceans and beaches, and is said to ‘align with values important to Australians.’

McConaughey and his wife Camila commented: “We launched Pantalones to remind everyone that Tequila should be high-quality juice and fun.

“We’re grateful that our message has been embraced by both Tequila lovers and the industry. Whether it’s enjoyed in cocktails, shooters, or sipped neat, Pantalones performs, and now, we’re excited to share it with Australia.”

Last week, the brand announced its partnership with Austin Football Club as the official Tequila of the team.

With the partnership, Pantalones will be featured in club bars, events, match day activations, and fan experiences throughout the season.

The sponsorship will also include exclusive promotions and limited edition events.

Last year, the celebrity couple launched a new campaign titled ‘Official Tequila Of’.
