Summerton Whisky Club takes on gin
By Georgie CollinsWhisky subscription club Summerton is taking its first step out of the category with the launch of a gin experience.

Similar to the format of its whisky subscription service, the Summerton Gin Experience is a one-off delivery that sees a surprise 700ml bottle sent to consumers.
Summerton notes that unlike ‘standard’ gin boxes, its gin experience delivery is all about the bottle, with no extras added to the box ‘to make up for the gin costing less than recipients pay’. This, it says, ensures ‘great value for money’, which is said to be a hallmark of Summerton deliveries.
Summerton founder Dan Humphrey explained: “I don’t understand why when you sign up to a gin subscription, the bottle costs less than you pay. That, for me, is wrong, and not something we will do when offering our gin box. Our delivery will offer great value and be nothing you’d find in the supermarket. In fact, there are only 948 bottles of the first gin we will be sharing, which is the first taste of a new brand.
“Having been asked by members over the years to consider offering a gin subscription, I feel offering one-off gin experiences is the best way for us to enter a new area. Most importantly, we will keep to the same values of our whisky subscription: great flavour and unique bottles at a great price.
“Just like our whisky deliveries, I want everyone opening their box to go ‘wow’, and I’m certain they will with this first gin.”
The first bottle is available for £24.95 (US$30.85) plus delivery, with Summerton Whisky Club Members able to add to their February whisky delivery and save postage costs.
UK consumers can order the first Summerton Gin Experience from www.summertonclub.co.uk/
Last year, Summerton brought back deliveries to the EU following complications caused by Brexit.
