News of the acquisition broke towards the end of 2024 and marks Constellation Brands’ exit from the vodka category.

Jake Wenz, CEO of Sazerac, said: “We are very excited to bring Svedka to Sazerac. Known for its high-quality vodka-making traditions, premium liquid standards and flavour innovation, it is a complimentary addition to our award-winning spirits portfolio.”

Financial details of the sale were not disclosed.

The vodka brand’s range includes several flavoured iterations, as well as a vodka soda ready-to-drink series, which includes flavours such as Mango Pineapple, Black Cherry Lime, and Strawberry Lemonade. The brand also has a selection of hard seltzers.

Svedka Vodka joins a varied portfolio of spirits at Sazerac, which includes Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Traveller Whiskey, Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey, BuzzBallz, Southern Comfort, White X Cognac, and more. The group also acquired ready-to-drink cocktail brand BuzzBallz in May 2024.

In October, Constellation Brands saw wine and spirits net sales fall by 12% in the second quarter of fiscal 2025.

In December 2024, The Spirits Business looked back across the year to round up the 10 biggest spirits buyouts of the past 12 months. The compilation spanned everything from non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ to whisky distilleries.
