Tequila Don Julio is collaborating with fast-food chain Popeyes for a collection of limited edition menu items dubbed the Championship Lineup. The Popeyes x Tequila Don Julio Reposado Flavoured Concha Chicken Sandwich is marinated in Tequila and topped with a Tequila lime slaw.

Additional items include the Reposado Flavoured Louisiana Garlic Wings and a Spicy Strawberry Hibiscus Flavoured Lemonade Mocktail. The menu is rolling out ahead of this year’s Super Bowl, which takes place on 9 February in Popeyes’ hometown of New Orleans.

For one day only, on 31 January, customers 21 and older will be able to preview the menu at six Popeyes locations across five cities, including those of the Super Bowl participating teams: New York (Times Square –1530 Broadway, New York, NY10036 and Madison Square Park—14 East 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010), Miami (6800 Red Rd, South Miami, FL 33143), New Orleans (621 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130), Philadelphia (1428 Old York Rd Abington, PA 19001), and Kansas City (9460 Quivira Rd Lenexa, Kansas 66215). Afterwards, the menu items will be available exclusively at the flagship New Orleans location until gameday, while supplies last.

Fried chicken and cocktails seem to be a popular pairing, with New York’s Double Chicken Please offering the pairing. The worlds of fried chicken and spirits also collided in August 2023, when KFC teamed up with Dead Man’s Fingers to create a limited edition spiced rum inspired by the brand’s 11 herbs and spices.

Arby’s has created its own food-inspired spirit as well, calling upon Minneapolis-based Tattersall Distilling to create a Curly Fry and Crinkle Fry Vodka in 2021.
