TS Spirits partners with Plastic Bank

Italian producer TS Spirits has been named official ambassador for Plastic Bank, an organisation that tackles plastic waste in the ocean.

Plastic Bank creates recycling ecosystems and new jobs in underdeveloped communities to combat plastic pollution from Ocean Bound and at the same time alleviate poverty levels.

By teaming up with Plastic Bank, TS Spirits pioneers a new era of eco-conscious consumption, where every sip of Capjari Gin contributes to the removal of plastic waste from the ocean and the empowerment of marginalised communities worldwide.

TS Spirits produces Capjari Gin, which, last year, also became the first spirit brand to introduce the Ocean Bound label – as part of its commitment to sustainability.

The company said the partnership with Plastic Bank is a ‘pivotal moment’ in its goal of promoting ‘eco-conscious consumption’ and removal of plastic from the ocean.

The partnership will also enable distributors, importers, hotels and venues in the on-trade by simply adding Capjari Gin to their portfolio, to increase their ‘green and social’ commitment , gaining the attention of the ever-increasing sustainably-conscious consumers, in a traceable and transparent way through the organisation’s blockchain platform.

TS Spirits co-founders, Fabio Todesco and Eugenio Speroni, said: “With Capjari Gin, we’re not just offering a high-quality awarded gin; we’re offering a transformative experience — a chance for consumers to make a tangible difference in the world while indulging in the finer things in life.”

The initiative has already garnered significant support from key players in the retail industry, with Italy’s largest retail chain, Conad, leading the charge. Following a successful debut during the Christmas season at selected Spazio Conad hypermarkets in the northern area of Italy, the aim for the Capjari Gin line is to expand their message of ‘green and social’, throughout all its partners, across the country, amplifying its reach and impact.

Capjari underwent a rebrand last year, having previously been named Electra Gin from when it debuted in 2021.

The line has two expressions: the Capjari Double Distilled Premium Gin, and Capjari Gold Organic Premium Gin.

Both have an ABV of 41.5% and retail for €44 (US$46).

The bottle designs also use eco-friendly paper from UPM Raflatac, the world’s largest paper mill.

Beyond purely making gin, Todesco and Speroni’s aim with Capjari is to expand their mission of ‘environmental sustainability and social responsibility’ on a global scale, stimulating players in the beverage business to follow their steps and certify the transparency of their commitment by using blockchain technology.

This could be an important step for the spirits industry to increase its transparency towards global customers .
