Capjari gin goes green

Italian gin Capjari has become the first spirit brand to introduce the Ocean Bound label as part of its commitment to sustainability.

The gin was formerly known as Electra Gin until it was rebranded last month

Produced by TS Spirits, Capjari was formerly known as Electra Gin and underwent a rebrand last month.

The brand said the Ocean Bound label signifies that the packaging materials used for Capjari are sourced from plastic waste collected from coastal areas and oceans.

By using these materials, the gin producer aims to contribute to the reduction of ocean pollution and promote a circular economy.

The label was the result of a partnership with environmental organisations and packaging suppliers dedicated to tackling the issue of plastic waste.

The brand’s design also uses eco-friendly paper from UPM Raflatac, the world’s largest paper mill.

Capjari hopes to set an example for the industry and encourage other brands to follow suit.

The gin range includes Capjari Double Distilled Premium Gin, which previously existed under the Electra name, and a new addition, the Capjari Gold Organic Premium Gin. The latter sports a yellow colour that changes over time due to the natural way the botanicals in the bottle have been matured.

TS Spirits was founded by two industry managers and long-time friends, Fabio Todesco and Eugenio Speroni, who extensively researched botanicals and formulas for 10 years, playing around with hundreds of recipes using a five-litre copper still.
