Berry Bros celebrates shop launch with exclusive Bowmore
By Lauren BowesFine wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd will open its first dedicated spirits shop next week (2 April).
The shop will connect to Berry Bros’ wine shop at 63 Pall Mall and will sell a range of almost 1,000 products.
To commemorate the opening, Berry Bros has selected a cask from Islay distillery Bowmore to create an exclusive bottling for the store.
The 26-year-old whisky is bottled at 55% ABV, with only 100 bottles available. Each will retail for £1,000 (US$1,260).
The store will also feature a Spirits Reserve Room, offering products from the world’s top producers and distillers as well as exclusive single cask bottlings.
Geordie Willis, brand experiences and creative director at Berry Bros & Rudd, said: “We are delighted to open the doors of our first spirits shop as the latest iteration of our centuries-long commitment to curating the finest and rarest selection of spirits.
“The growth in premium spirits shows that our customers have a huge appetite for beautiful and rare liquids and the selection has been carefully curated, to offer a truly exceptional range and experience at the spirits shop.
“The space has been carefully restored; the interior will use reclaimed oak barrel staves from old whisky casks alongside a beautiful solid elm tasting table. The elm used for the table came from the Brodie Castle Estate in the heart of Speyside – home to some of the world’s most celebrated whisky distilleries.”
Berry Bros celebrated its 325th birthday last year, which it marked with anniversary releases such as an exclusive Laphroaig 1999 whisky.
The company was founded in 1698 and is the UK’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant.
