Vinexposium names first V d’Or winners

The inaugural winners of The Vinexposium Business Awards, V d’Or, were crowned during an awards ceremony in Paris on Sunday (11 February).

The awards made their debut ahead of the official opening of this year’s Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris trade show, which is taking place this week from 12-14 February.

Industry professionals gathered for the awards dinner at Pavillon Gabriel in Paris on Sunday evening to hear the announcement of the winners.

The Best New Business Solution V d’Or award was awarded to Tastee by Winespace from France.

Gin brand Mallard Point from the UK received the Best Eco-Friendly Market Launch V d’Or.

Rodolphe Lameyse, Vinexposium CEO, said: “The V d’Or awards are a solid expression of our commitment to a sustainable and responsible wine industry, a symbol of excellence and of the preservation of our terroir for future generations.”

Best Heritage Initiative was awarded to The Old Vine Registry by The Old Vine Conference (UK and US). The scheme was praised for being an “international, global and beautiful project”.

Best Brand Experience was delivered to Creation Wines from South Africa, while Best Joint Initiative was given to Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program by WWF Portugal and Wines of Alentejo.

The judges agreed to award Coups de Coeur to Vigno from Chile and RedWine by Avipe from Portugal.

Michael Chapoutier, chairman of the V d’Or Committee, added: “The wine world is full of strong personalities who express themselves constantly through ambitious initiatives and projects. We have designed the V d’Or awards to reward their energy and enthusiasm.”
