Broken Bones Distillery seeks distributors

Slovenia-based Broken Bones Distillery is hoping to expand into new markets and is seeking partnerships.

The distillery secured distribution in Ukraine, Montenegro, Belgium and France last year

Co-founded by Bostjan Marusic, Borut Osojnik and Polona Preskar in 2012, Broken Bones creates gin and whisky and will move into brandy soon.

As Slovenia’s spirits market is small, Broken Bones has had global aspirations since its founding. In 2023, the brand became available in Ukraine, Montenegro, Belgium and France.

Its focus now is on securing distributors in Asia and the US.

The company recently announced that it had invested in a new whisky still, a mash tun and a fermenter, which will allow it to produce nearly 20,000 bottles per year by 2027.

The brand combines ‘a strong Slovenian influence with the Scottish tradition of whisky making’, using Slovenian water and malt to create its whiskies, which are aged in Slovenian sessile oak barrels.

It has produced 100 bottles each of peated and unpeated single malt every year since its first batch in 2020.

As well as its two single malts, Broken Bones also creates a range of gins, including a London Dry, an Old Tom and a sloe gin.
