La Luna Mezcal hopes to expand to Europe and Africa with Charter Brands

La Luna joins Charter Brands’ agave portfolio alongside El Tequileño Tequila.

The Michoacán brand is currently available in the US and Mexico, with expressions including Manso Sahuayo, Ensable Chino Manso, Chino Silvestre, Bruto, Cupreata Black Label Ensamble, and Tequilana mezcals.

The range of artisanal mezcals is made from wild and cultivated magueys harvested at altitudes above 2,000 meters.

Salvador P Chavez, founder and producer of La Luna, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Charter Brands as we take the next step in expanding our footprint beyond the US and Mexico. We come from Cotija, Michoacán, and that origin is at the heart of everything we do, a deep respect for our people, our land, and our traditions.

“This partnership allows us to share that pride on a global stage, connecting new audiences to the authenticity, craftsmanship, and soul behind our spirits.”

Charter Brands will be responsible for introducing La Luna to new global markets, with a key focus on Europe and Africa.

Matt Ashton-Melia, managing director at Charter Brands, commented: “We are delighted to welcome La Luna to the Charter Brands portfolio as our exclusive mezcal partner.

“Combined with highly competitive commercial opportunities and a versatile range of expressions, La Luna offers a compelling proposition for both the trade and bartending community.

“With a strong Tequila portfolio already in place, we see a significant opportunity for La Luna within the Charter Brands offering. We have already received first orders from several existing distribution partners and look forward to working with Salvador and his team to establish La Luna globally while building on the strong foundations already in place across North and Central America.”

Earlier this year, Charter Brands merged with London-based Scale Drinks.

Last month, the exporter added One Eyed Spirits and Come Hell or High Water Rum to its portfolio.
