Takamaka names new German distributor
Seychelles-based rum producer Takamaka has appointed Kirsch Import as its distributor in Germany, taking over from Haromex.
Based near Bremen in Northern Germany, Kirsch Import began distribution of Takamaka’s rum range from the start of 2024.
Christoph Kirsch, CEO and owner of Kirsch Import, said: “To be the new partner at Takamaka’s side, and to expand our rum portfolio with their diverse bottlings, makes us proud. We are very honoured by the trust Takamaka has placed in us and our sales expertise. With great anticipation, we look forward to achieving our shared objectives.”
Takamaka is now available in more than 50 markets across three continents as part of the brand’s global expansion plan.
In 2023, the rum brand entered 17 new markets, including its first entry into Asia in collaboration with Bring the Rocks in Taiwan. The brand also partnered with La Maison du Whisky in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Takamaka, the first molasses-based distillery in the Seychelles, was founded in 2002 by brothers Bernard and Richard d’Offay. Last year, the brand surpassed the one million bottle milestone.
The distillery brought its St André Series to the UK in 2022. The range comprised four blended rums: Extra Noir, Grankaz, Pti Lakaz and Zepis Kreol.
Takamaka’s Trois Frères Distillery was the winner of the Contribution to Spirits Tourism accolade in The Spirits Business Awards 2023.
The Seychelles producer was also named one of the world’s top destination distilleries to visit.
