Diageo and Diddy settle lawsuits

Leading spirits firm Diageo and rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have released a joint statement settling their legal disputes.

The full statement reads: “Sean Combs and Diageo have now agreed to resolve all disputes between them. Mr Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice.

“Diageo and Mr Combs have no ongoing business relationship, either with respect to Cîroc vodka or DeLeón Tequila, which Diageo now solely owns.”

In June 2023, Combs alleged that the drinks giant had neglected DeLeón Tequila, which they co-owned at the time, because of his race.

In the same month, Diageo severed ties with Combs and described his lawsuit as a ‘sham’.

In October 2023, Diageo countersued Combs, alleging he had ‘leveraged’ allegations of racial animus to extort the firm.

The two parties first began their partnership in 2007, with Combs helping the drinks brand to market Cîroc. They announced an equal partnership to buy DeLeón Tequila in 2014.

In late 2023, Combs also faced a lawsuit from singer Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, his ex-girlfriend, alleging rape and sex trafficking. The lawsuit was settled one day after it was filed.
