Volcan de mi Tierra takes X.A Tequila to UK

Moët Hennessy will launch its ultra-premium edition of Volcan de mi Tierra Tequila, X.A, in the UK this autumn.

Additive free and made from 100% Blue agave, the expression is a blend of reposado, añejo and extra añejo Tequilas.

The brand said the reposado base brings ”the right level of sweetness and smoothness’’ while the añejo and extra añejo Tequilas add “aromatic balance and complexity’’.

”After a successful introduction of our three core products, Blanco, Reposado and Cristalino, we are thrilled to launch Volcan X.A: a pure and ultimate expression of Volcan de mi Tierra savoir-faire, created to be appreciated around the best tables across the world.”

Bringing Volcan X.A to life wasn’t a simple task, a process that Santiago Cortina Gallardo, chief operating officer of Volcan de mi Tierra, said was ”the result of several years of work and research in Volcan’s distillery’’.

The distillery sits at the base of the Tequila Volcano, located in the Jalisco region of Mexico. The bottle for the new expression has been designed to reflect and honour the volcano.

Gallado continued: ”Some years ago, we built a new cellar, which is eight metres deep and has 1.5m thick walls to protect our casks from the heat of Jalisco, allowing gentle ageing in various types of oak barrels we had been experimenting on.

”After many trials we have been able to create the Tequila we were aiming for: an ultra-smooth and aromatic expression with a long finish, and no additives.”

To help usher the X.A expression into the UK, Volcan has partnered with Bulgari Hotel and Kol restaurant, among other venues in London, and will showcase the spirit at alternative club and experience nights organiser Perplex’s House of Sin Halloween events – taking place at One Marylebone from 27-28 October.

Volcan de mi Tierra XA Tequila sits at 40% ABV and retails for £216 (US$263.59) per 700ml and £486 (US$593.07) per 1.5-litre with limited availability.

It has also been announced as the official Tequila partner for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is happening between 16-18 November.

After debuting in the UK, Volcan de mi Tierra was one of our top Tequila brands to watch in 2022.
