Alan Lodge Awward 2023
Writers aged under 35 have until 19 November 2023 to enter

The Spirits Business is on the look out for the drinks industry’s best scribes as part of its annual Alan Lodge Young International Drinks Writer of the Year Award.

The award was established in memory of The Spirits Business’ late deputy editor, Alan Lodge.

It is open to journalists, columnists and bloggers under the age of 35 who write about wine, beer, spirits and cocktails.

Entrants have until 19 November 2023 to submit up to three pieces of writing published online or in print between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023.

Submissions will be assessed by an objective panel of experienced judges.

The winner of The Alan Lodge Young International Drinks Writer of the Year Award 2023 will be announced in December, and will also feature in the December issue of The Spirits Business magazine, and online.

Past winners of the award include Millie MillikenFelipe Schrieberg, and Susannah Skiver Barton.

Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business, said: “We’re really proud at The Spirits Business to keep this important award going in memory of a talented and greatly missed journalist, Alan Lodge.

“There is a huge amount of writing talent in the international drinks trade, and year after year I’m so impressed by the calibre of entries we receive.

“I encourage anyone who is tempted to put their writing forward for this award to go for it, and submit your entries before the deadline – I can’t wait to see what fascinating features will be up for judging this year.”

Submissions should be sent as a URL, PDF or Word document and can be uploaded on The Alan Lodge Award homepage.

Alternatively, email your entry to Christelle Monges: christelle.monges@thespiritsbusiness.com.
