TFWA managing director to depart
The managing director of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) will step down on 30 October.
John Rimmer, the outgoing TFWA managing director, joined the association in October 2012 as director of conferences and research.
He was promoted to managing director in October 2017 when he succeeded Alain Maingreaud, who retired.
Erik Juul-Mortensen, TFWA president, said: “On behalf of the management committee, the board and the entire team at TFWA, I would like to thank John for his valuable contribution to the development and success of TFWA since he joined, and wish him every success going forward.”
During his years as managing director, Rimmer has been credited for developing and growing the association’s two major exhibitions, including the World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, France.
The association is currently seeking a new managing director, and will name Rimmer’s successor in due course.
The annual TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will return to Cannes this year from 1-5 October.
Last year’s World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes welcomed 5,983 visitors from around the world. It was the association’s 37th World Exhibition & Conference.
Guests included 2,095 duty free operators and landlords – more than double the 2021 total, but 12% fewer than 2019 levels pre-Covid-19.
