Rock band The Stranglers release Golden Brown whisky

British rock group The Stranglers has partnered with Caskade Drinks to bottle a single malt Scotch whisky named for the 1982 single Golden Brown.

The new release was distilled at Craigellachie Distillery in Speyside and aged in Sherry casks for 14 years.

Bottled at 46% ABV, Golden Brown is said to be ‘as bold and rich as its lyrical namesake’.

Its tasting notes include coffee, almond and raisins on the nose, with burnt toffee, dried orange peel and ginger on the palate.

“We are incredibly pleased to announce our own brand single malt whisky Golden Brown, which we’ll be launching exclusively this weekend,” said The Stranglers in a statement. “It’s a limited run and there’s only 835 bottles available in total, so be quick if you want a dram with us.”

The label incorporates design elements from the sleeve of the original 7” single release of Golden Brown, which rose to the number two spot in the UK Singles Chart on its debut.

Golden Brown is available to pre-order directly from Caskade Drinks, and will also be sold at The Stranglers’ live shows in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June 2026.

Independent bottler Caskade has previously collaborated with bands including Deacon Blue and Travis, and in 2023 produced a limited edition single malt to celebrate 30 years of the Celtic Connections music festival.
