Brother’s Bond Bourbon creates rye whiskey
Bourbon brand Brother’s Bond, founded by The Vampire Diaries actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, has launched its first rye whiskey.
The brand was launched in 2021, and by the end of the year was the most followed celebrity spirits brand on the internet.
Brother’s Bond Bourbon claims to be one of the fastest-growing ultra-premium spirits brands, with more than 100,000 cases shipped across the US.
The brand has now launched Brother’s Bond American Blended Rye (47.5% ABV) and Brother’s Bond Cask Strength (57.5% ABV).
The new products follow the launch of the Bourbon brand’s first cask strength bottling in July 2022, which was released in limited quantities.
Somerhalder said: “We’ve put a great deal of passion and hard work into the expansion of our portfolio, so we hope anyone having our whiskey loves the new rye and cask strength as much as we do.
“As we were hand selecting the three unique mash bills, we wanted to push the limits with more robust and dynamic flavours and match the richness of our Original Cask Strength Bourbon.
“We also knew that we had to create a rye like no other that will continue to develop consumer palates as they dive deeper into the whiskey world.”
The rye whiskey was made using a four-grain mash bill of 77% rye and 16% corn, with wheat and barley making up the rest.
The resulting liquid offers a ‘sweet intense dried raisin note with rich caramel cream’, alongside ripe pineapple, vanilla cream, mint, rose petals, and a hint of aromatic grapes.
Meanwhile, the new cask strength offering was blended from three hand-selected Bourbon mash bills from 70 barrels.
The whiskey provides notes of ripe banana, caramel and vanilla on the nose, leading to flavours of walnuts, dried fruits, rye bread and honey.
“We’ve been dedicated to the growth of Brother’s Bond Bourbon since its inception, and the new release of our cask strength and launch of our rye whiskey is proof that we’ve established our place in the industry and can compete with top distillers,” Wesley added.
Brother’s Bond American Blended Rye Whiskey (RRP US$59.99) and Brother’s Bond Cask Strength Bourbon (RRP US$84.99) are available to buy online and in retailers across the US.
The Bourbon recently launched in Canada, its first international market.
The brand is distilled and aged in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, by MGP Ingredients.
