Sollasa is a grain-based lower-alcohol spirit bottled at 20% ABV, made with blend of mandarin, lychee and cardamom. Co-founded by Vishal and Sajag Patel, the spirit was inspired by India.

The duo’s original mission was to create a drink that pairs well with Indian cuisine.

Within its first year, Sollasa secured listings Indian restaurants in the UK including Michelin-starred Gymkhana and Trishna, the Atul Kochhar restaurants, and Kricket.

Now the brand has set its sights on expanding its listings focus to include restaurants serving food from across the continent of Asia, including Thailand.

“Sollasa’s delicate blend of flavours, coupled with its refreshing lightness, make it a savoury aperitif that goes beautifully with food,” said Vishal Patel, who won the Young Achiever of the Year award at The Spirits Business Awards 2022.

“Our expansion into Thai restaurants is proof of Sollasa’s unique ability to be a delicious drinks pairing for food with more complex flavour profiles.

“We will be targeting nationwide pan-Asian restaurants in 2023 to spread the joy Sollasa brings to the ‘with-food’ occasion to more UK consumers.”

Sollasa is available to UK retailers now via Craftwork for RRP £25 (US$30).

Mark Dawkins, co-founder of Craftwork, added: “As an all-natural spirit that is low in sugar, half the alcohol of gin, but uncompromising, uniquely refreshing and very appealing [in] flavour, Sollasa ticks many of the boxes for today’s conscious consumer.

“There’s a real buzz and opportunity around Sollasa. It provides consumers with an exciting alternative for the ‘with-food’ occasion via increased distribution across the hospitality sector, as well as retail for consumption at home, given its ease-of-use, simple serves and consumers’ repertoire for lighter and lower-alcohol at-home spirits drinks.”

Last year, Sollasa partnered with Double Dutch Drinks to create a canned ready-to-drink serve.
