Oxford Artisan Distillery names new chairman
English spirits producer The Oxford Artisan Distillery has named Marcin Miller, co-founder of The Kyoto Distillery in Japan, as its chairman.
Miller was one of the original investors in the English distillery.
His drinks industry experience includes publishing and PR, and co-founding the Number One Drinks company in 2006 to distribute Japanese whisky across Europe.
Miller also co-founded the Oslo Håndverksdestilleri in Norway.
“I’m now focusing my time on purpose-led brands and projects, so I’m thrilled to take up the chairmanship of The Oxford Artisan Distillery,” Miller commented.
“Working with heritage grains, the team at Oxford is leading the revolution in tackling sustainable farming whilst producing exquisite whiskies. With Distill Ventures as partners, we have ambitious and exciting growth plans in place.”
Distill Ventures took a minority share in The Oxford Artisan Distillery late last year.
Founded in 2016, the company produces whisky using biodiverse populations of ‘heritage’ grains grown through an approach to grain farming known as Restorative Continuous Grain Cropping (R-CGC).
David Smith, CEO of the distillery, said: “I’m delighted Marcin Miller has agreed to become our chairman as we enter the exciting next phase of our journey. His experience and counsel will be invaluable as we introduce our proposition to a growing audience in the UK and abroad.”
