Stauning launches in Ocado

Danish whisky Stauning has expanded its UK presence by securing a listing with online grocery store Ocado.

The brand’s whiskies will be available on Ocado for prices ranging from £60-£62 (US$73-76)

The partnership marks the brand’s first major online grocery listing since its launch in the UK in September 2020.

Stauning’s core portfolio includes the Rye, Kaos, and Smoke. Ocado will sell the core range, plus Stauning’s Research Series, which comprises its Bastard and El Clasico bottlings.

Stauning’s co-founder, Alex Munch, said: “Launching into Ocado is a pivotal moment for us as a brand as we continue to grow in the UK.

“We cannot wait for more people to try our award-winning whiskies and to be able to share our story with people all over the country. We hope this launch will continue our journey of success in the UK and we are excited to see what the future holds.”

Previously, the brand was exclusively available through The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt.

The 700ml whiskies will now be available for an RRP of £60-£62 (US$73-76).

In July this year, Stauning debuted a limited edition rye whisky matured in sweet wine casks, named Sweet Wine Rye. Only 2,909 bottles of the whisky were released.

In February, the distillery threatened to stop making whisky in a bid to draw global attention to an ongoing clash between Canadian and Danish governments over an island in the Arctic Sea.
