Casa Del Sol names chief growth officer

Tequila brand Casa Del Sol has appointed drinks industry veteran Scott Blazek to the role of chief growth officer.

Blazek previously worked at Heineken USA and Diageo

The position will see Blazek lead the company’s commercial organisation, including all sales and distribution, and strategy and analytics.

Speaking to The Spirits Business, Blazek said: “I couldn’t be happier to have joined the Casa Del Sol team at such an exciting moment in time – not only for our business, but for the wider luxury Tequila category as a whole.

“With such notable initial traction and momentum generated to-date, I look forward to now helping take Casa Del Sol to new and exciting heights, around all of the talented people in this organisation and the endless possibilities ahead.”

Blazek formerly held the position of executive vice president of Breakthru Beverage for Nevada, as well as senior vice president of sales for Heineken USA.

He will work as a critical partner on the executive team, reporting to CEO Steph Sebbag and Colbi Corbett, president and chief operating officer.

“Scott’s extensive experience across the wider beverage alcohol industry, as well as his deep understanding of the space, makes him a true value add for Casa Del Sol,” said Corbett. “We are building a world-class team rooted in values, quality and authenticity and look forward to Scott helping us build on the national momentum and high revenue velocity we are experiencing as a brand and company.”

Casa Del Sol is owned by American-Mexican actress Eva Longoria, and is said to combine Mexican tradition with French heritage. It is available in three variants: blanco, reposado and añejo.

Alongside Longoria, the team includes Alejandra Pelayo, Casa Del Sol’s head of production and goddaughter of the late Francisco Alcaraz, the former master distiller and creator of Patrón, and Mariana Padilla, a Mexico-based artisan.
