Revel Spirits joins the RTD market

Los Angeles-based Revel Spirits has entered the ready-to-drink (RTD) category with the launch of a line of canned sparkling agave-based beverages.

The Californian drinks producer has created the Revel Avila Spritz range using Revel Avila, an agave spirit made from 100% Blue Weber agave. The firm premiered avila as a new category of agave spirits in 2018.

Wrennie West, general manager of Revel Spirits, said: “Consumers have spoken, and with estimates pointing at a global market size of over US$1.6 billion by 2027, I think it’s safe to say that RTD beverages are more than just a trend.”

“Revel Avila truly is one of a kind and we’re thrilled to now offer the convenience of consuming the spirit in this new form factor.”

The Revel Avila Spritz consists of four flavours: mango and Fresno chilli; guava, toasted coconut and kaffir lime; watermelon, cucumber and coriander; and grapefruit and rosemary.

“We put an incredible amount of time and focus into Revel Avila Spritz, especially when it came to the mixology behind the flavours,” said co-owner and actor Justin Hartley, who bought a minority stake in the company in 2020. “As the saying goes, you only get one shot at a first impression, so we wanted to make sure we got it right.

“Our mission was simple – pair the best agave spirit on the planet with some of the most unique flavour combinations the palate can imagine. Beautifully fresh and crisp, we’re positive these flavours are going to captivate consumers’ taste buds and truly set our RTD apart in the market.”

Each 354ml can is made with 100% agave from Morelos, Mexico, and blended with natural ingredients to produce the four variants.

The gluten-free spritz is canned at 6% ABV in Sonoma, California.

Founded in 2012, Revel Spirits is an entrepreneurial venture formed to professionally import, market and distribute high-quality distilled spirits that are produced exclusively in Morelos.

Revel Spirits’ flagship brand, Revel Avila, is distilled using only 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the mineral-rich soil of the region. It is offered in three variants: blanco, which is bottled straight after distillation; reposado, which was aged for 12 months in an ex-whisky oak barrel; and añejo, a 47% ABV spirit that was aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels.

The Revel Avila Spritz cans are available across the US through Reserve Bar, in addition to select California retailers. The cans are available as a four-pack of the individual flavours or a variety pack, each retailing at US$18.99 (£15.15).
