Darker Still Spirits has launched its Black Irish whiskey-and-stout spirit drink in Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland (MRPI) stores.

The whiskey-and-stout based drink will hit the shelves in 68 Supervalu and Centra stores in Ireland, owned by MRPI.

The drink is distributed by Dalcassian in Ireland, and is contained in a dark glass bottle inspired by vintage beer bottles, featuring a crown cap and flip-top closure.

Pat Rigney and John Dillon, co-founders of Dalcassian, said: “Since we started distributing Black Irish across Ireland in May, we have seen great success and demand for the brand, due to the distinct flavour profile of the liquid and visually striking bottle which stands out on-shelf.

“We look forward to working with Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland to continue to build on the success of Black Irish in Ireland.”

Bottled at 40% ABV, the liquid is a triple-distilled Irish whiskey and matured in deep-charred American ex-Bourbon casks.

Its dark colour is a result of a stout and barrel-aged stout blend, boasting light bitter notes of coffee, chocolate malt and roasted barley.

Adrian Walker, who is said to have developed brands including Cîroc vodka, crafted the recipe.

Black Irish is recommended served neat, in a shot of espresso or mixed with cola, ginger ale or soda water. It is available to buy from O’Brien’s Wine and Spirits, and Centra and Supervalu stores in Ireland for RRP €35 (US$40.76).

The brand recently unveiled its Halloween campaign which is being rolled out globally through social media.

Earlier this month, Black Irish was launched in the Netherlands through Amsterdam-based Anker Spirits.
