Black Irish reveals Halloween campaign

Darker Still Spirits-owned Black Irish has launched a campaign to encourage consumers to mark Halloween with its whiskey-and-stout spirit drink.

The Irish whiskey-based spirit drink is aiming to get drinkers into the Halloween spirit

The campaign will be rolled out globally through social media this October, with an aim to get drinkers into the spirit of Halloween.

Projecting the tagline ‘don’t be afraid of the dark’, the campaign plays on the dark colour of the spirit and theme of darkness that surrounds the spooky holiday.

The video ad displays a bottle of Black Irish in a dark room, with a shadow cast behind it. The shadow morphs into an eerie claw shape, accompanied by the tagline. The spot finishes with the words: “Black Irish, whiskey and stout made dark.”

The spirit drink begins with triple-distilled Irish whiskey, which is matured in deep-charred American ex-Bourbon casks. The cask strength liquid is then cut to bottling strength (40% ABV) with a stout and barrel-aged stout blend.

The release of the video campaign follows the distribution of the whiskey-and-stout spirit drink in the Netherlands.

The brand is currently caught up in a trademark battle with Mariah Carey for the name ‘Black Irish’, following the singer’s launch of a range of cream liqueurs by the same name in August.
