Kirker Greer Spirits unveils Japanese gin range

Grand Kadoo Rum owner Kirker Greer Spirits has created a Japanese gin brand featuring two expressions.

Ukiyo Japanese gin
The Japanese gin range sold out on pre-order in multiple countries

Ukiyo is a premium Japanese gin line comprising of Ukiyo Blossom Gin and Ukiyo Yuzu Gin, crafted on Japan’s Kyushu Island.

To produce the gin, locally sourced grains are distilled into shōchū, which is then infused with botanicals including juniper, mandarin and spices. Then, sakura flowers (cherry blossoms) and yuzu are added for a hint of fragrance and zest.

The 40% ABV gin has already sold out on pre-order ahead of its launch in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Australia.

John Soden, chief commercial officer of Kirker Greer Spirits, said: “We are delighted that there has been a huge demand for this product, our customers are really intrigued by these truly unique spirits and feedback from the initial samples was phenomenal, not only on the taste but on the striking visual impact of the bottles too.”

The bottle is two-colour graduated, designed to mirror the mountains and oceans of Japan.

The gin is now available across international markets and currently listed in online stockists in the UK, including through Amazon and Spiritly.

Last month, Kirker Greer’s Bowsaw Straight Corn Whiskey expanded its European presence by gaining a listing with drinks retailer Alko in Finland.

Kirker Greer Spirits also distributes Black Irish, a whiskey-and-stout spirit drink facing a legal battle against Mariah Carey for the trademark of its product name.
