Bacardí gets fruity with new tropical rum
By Kate MalczewskiBermuda-based producer Bacardí has introduced a limited edition rum infused with tropical fruit flavours.
Bacardí Tropical is a white rum flavoured with pineapple, coconut and guava.
At 35% ABV, the expression is recommended as a base for mixed drinks.
Maria Galis, marketing director for Bacardí North America, said: “It brings the natural fruit flavours of the Caribbean to classic rum cocktails like the Piña Colada, Mojito or the Tropical Sunset, which is our take on the Hurricane. It is also just as versatile and delicious when mixed with juices or soda for an easy, vacation-worthy sip.”
The new variant was developed to tap into the flavoured rum trend. “At Bacardí, we know that flavoured rum is the fastest-growing segment in the category,” Galis continued. “To give people a delicious new flavoured rum option and get them excited about what is sure to be an unforgettable summer, we created Bacardí Tropical.”
According to Nielsen data cited by the brand, tropical variants make up about 80% of recent growth in flavoured rum.
Bacardí Tropical joins a host of other fruit-flavoured rums in the producer’s portfolio, including Coconut, Lime, Limón, Pineapple, Dragonberry, Raspberry and Mango. It is available to purchase for RRP US$12.99 from online retailer Drizly and at select stores across the US.
Earlier this summer, the brand unveiled a range of rum-based canned cocktails.
Based on the data collected in The Spirits Business‘ 2021 Brand Champions report, Bacardí was among the top 10 biggest-selling rums last year.
