Heaven Hill pledges $400k to tackle coronavirus

Kentucky-based Heaven Hill Brands has donated US$400,000 to help communities and hospitality workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Heaven Hill’s Deep Eddy Vodka site in Texas will begin producing hand sanitiser

Family-owned Heaven Hill Brands, the producer of Evan Williams Bourbon and Black Velvet Canadian whisky, will help the hospitality sector by contributing donations directly to local charitable organisations supporting the industry.

In addition, Heaven Hill will distribute funds to four community partners: One Louisville, Tri-Country United Way, Stand with Austin, United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta and Community Foundation of Ireland.

“With facilities in the United States, Canada and Ireland, and as a family owned and operated company for 85 years, Heaven Hill has a long history of supporting our employees and their families,” said Max L Shapira, president of Heaven Hill Brands.

“As part of our long-term core mission, we also take great pride in our local communities and at a time like this want to provide assistance to those in need.

“We particularly share a sense of community with those affected in the hospitality industry. As a result, our sales teams are championing that effort at the local level in partnership with organisations that support our hospitality family.”

The Bourbon maker has also committed to producing hand sanitiser to support health care facilities, first responders and high-risk populations.

Production of hand sanitiser will soon begin at Heaven Hill’s Evan Williams Bourbon Experience in Louisville, Kentucky; the Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room in Dripping Springs, Texas; and the Black Velvet Distillery in Lethbridge, Canada.

Heaven Hill also said it had implemented social distancing and sanitisation procedures to protect its employees.

Spirits firms around the world have stepped up to help tackle the spread of coronavirus, with distillers including Diageo, Bacardi and Rémy Cointreau donating alcohol for the production of hand sanitiser.
