Dewar’s kicks off cask-finished series with Caribbean Smooth

Bacardi-owned Dewar’s has unveiled the first Scotch whisky in its new cask-finished series – an eight-year-old blend finished in Caribbean rum casks.

Dewar’s Caribbean Smooth is a blend of up to 40 single malts and grain whiskies that have been matured for at least eight years, before being transferred into ex-Caribbean rum casks for approximately six months.

The brand intends to release further double-aged Scotch whiskies in the future.

Bottled at 40% ABV, Dewar’s Caribbean Smooth is available for an RRP of US$21.99 per 750ml.

Stephanie Macleod, master blender for Dewar’s, said: “With its remarkable versatility and unique flavour profile – which features subtle notes of apple, caramel and biscuity cereal that slips into dark brown sugar and tropical fruit – Caribbean Smooth is the perfect spirit to enjoy neat or in a variety of Highball recipes that pair particularly well for epicurean gatherings.”

Earlier this year, Dewar’s launched a travel retail-exclusive in the form of its Double Double range, which featured a range of whiskies that had undergone a four-step maturation process.

This was supported by a short film created with actor Tuppence Middleton.
