Bardstown Bourbon Co adds three bottlings to Collaborative Series

The Bardstown Bourbon Company has launched three expressions finished in brandy and beer barrels as part of its Collaborative Series.

Double Muscat Mistelle Bourbon is available to buy from Bardstown Bourbon Co’s onsite gift shop

The new bottlings have been created in partnership with two Louisville drinks producers: Copper & Kings and the Goodwood Brewing Company.

Bardstown Bourbon Co’s collaboration with brandy maker Copper & Kings began in 2017, when the two producers released a Muscat Mistelle barrel-finished Bourbon and an American brandy barrel-finished Bourbon.

The Bourbon maker has now created two new expressions with Copper & Kings.

The first bottling, called Bardstown Bourbon Company Copper & Kings American Apple Brandy, is an 11-year-old Indiana Bourbon finished in select apple brandy barrels for 20 months. It has an ABV of 60.2% and is priced at US$124.99 per 750ml.

The firms will also launch an “extremely limited” 10-year-old Bourbon finished initially for 18 months in Copper & Kings Muscat Mistelle barrels, and then re-barrelled for an additional finish in new, freshly charred American oak casks for 19 months.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Copper & Kings Double Muscat Mistelle (49.95% ABV) is available to buy from Bardstown Bourbon Company’s onsite gift shop for US$349.99 per 750ml.

“This is ridiculous spirit,” said Copper & Kings founder Joe Heron. “It is no hyperbole to call this a luxury Bourbon. It fits the description like a hand in a very expensive calfskin leather glove. It’s very rich, very complex, with huge depth and totally unique.”

In addition, Bardstown Bourbon Co will unveil an 11-year-old Bourbon finished in Goodwood Brewing Brandy Barrel Honey Ale casks for 18 months. It is described as a “a rich Bourbon accentuated by layers of honey, caramel, fig, malt and dried fruit”.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Goodwood Brewing Company Honey Ale (55% ABV) is priced at US$124.99 per 750ml.

The two companies will continue their collaboration in early 2020 with the launch of a Bourbon finished in the brewer’s Walnut Brown Ale casks.

The three new expressions join the Collaborative Series, which includes Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion Series #1 Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey and Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #1.
