Bardstown Bourbon Co releases Discovery Series #1

The Bardstown Bourbon Company has released Discovery Series #1, a blend of four Kentucky straight Bourbons aged between five and 13 years.

Discovery Series #1 is a blend of four Kentucky Bourbons

The Bourbon was created as part of a collaboration between the firm’s distilling, beverage and culinary teams. It follows the release of Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 in April 2019, the brand’s first Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey.

The team is led by master distiller Steve Nally; vice president of manufacturing operations John Hargrove; certified sommelier and director of Bourbon education, visitor experience and product development Dan Callaway; and Bottle and Bond Kitchen and Bar executive chef Felix Mosso.

Bardstown Bourbon Company’s team blind-tasted more than 30 blends of Kentucky Bourbons before choosing the final product which has a “complex nose, rich palate and balanced, lasting finish”.

Discovery Series #1 combines notes of deep tobacco and leather from the 11- and 13-year-old Bourbons, baking spices from the 10-year-old, and fruit from the five-year-old.

“With Discovery Series #1, we’ve produced a blend that can rival any product on the market,” said Nally. “The final result is truly greater than the sum of its parts. We’ve taken four great Kentucky Bourbons and crafted them into one spectacular bottle.”

Discovery Series #1 has an RRP of US$129.99 per 750ml bottle.

It is available in “highly allocated quantities” in Kentucky and Indiana through Republic National Distributing Company, in California and Florida through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and in Nashville and central Tennessee through Ajax Turner.

Hargrove added: “We’ve taken the art of blending to the next level by employing a diverse group of experts to develop our products. It’s a new approach from one of the most innovative whiskey distilleries in the country.”
