Bardstown Bourbon Co launches ‘one-of-a-kind’ Fusion blend

The Bardstown Bourbon Company has released its first Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey as part of a collaboration between the firm’s distilling, beverage and culinary teams.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion Series #1 is launching in the US

The new Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 is a blend of Bardstown’s two-year-old wheat and high-rye Bourbon with an 11-year-old Kentucky Bourbon.

To create the new expression, the team blind-tasted more than 50 blends before arriving at its final product – a “one-of-a-kind” blend.

The lively fruit and spice of the two-year-old Bourbon is said to counter the leather, roasted nuts and rich caramel of aged Kentucky Bourbon.

The team is led by master distiller Steve Nally; vice president of manufacturing operations John Hargrove; certified sommelier and director of Bourbon education, visitor experience and product development Dan Callaway; and Bottle & Bond Kitchen & Bar executive chef Felix Mosso.

“We are a new blend of Bourbon makers pushing the boundaries through innovation, while honouring the traditional art of making whiskey,” said Bardstown Bourbon Company president and CEO David Mandell.

“Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 is a celebration of our distillery, beverage and culinary teams working together to create spectacular Bourbon.”

The distillery opened its in-house restaurant Bottled & Bond Kitchen & Bar in June 2018.

“Pairing Bourbon with food is a growing trend,” said Mosso. “In making Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1, our culinary team highlighted flavour profiles using the same techniques that we rely on in crafting our dishes.”

Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 has an RRP of US$59.99 per 750ml bottle and is available in Kentucky and Indiana through Republic National Distributing Company.

It will launch in California and Florida through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in May and Tennessee and Illinois this summer.
