Round-the-world bar tour inspires Sexy Fish menu

London restaurant bar Sexy Fish has created a new cocktail menu inspired by the cities and venues its team visited during a round-the-world tour in 2018.

Last year, the London bar and restaurant undertook a tour of the world’s bars, including stops at Saxon + Parole, New York; Devil’s Advocate, Edinburgh; and Topo, Lisbon. 

The nine-month-long tour started at The Clumsies in Athens in January 2018 and saw the bar travel to 14 bars around the world before ending at Soho Garden, Dubai, in September. 

Upon returning to the UK, the bar’s team set about creating a menu of 16 cocktails and four non-alcoholic serves inspired by the bars and cities visited along the way.  

The new menu at Sexy Fish includes the Super Magic Monkey, which is inspired by Sober Co in Shanghai and contains Monkey 47 Gin, super magic monkey mix, coconut, chocolate bitters and soda water; and the Mala Copa, which pays homage to the Licorería Limantour in Mexico City with its blend of chilli-infused Don Julio Tequila, calvados, Kümmel, tomatillo, avocado and soda. 

Imbibers can also enjoy the Amsterdam-inspired Clog Nine, which blends apple wood-infused vodka, jasmine and coriander seed cordial, Supasawa, Mt Fuji Bitters and soda water; and the Ginza Highball, which was influenced by Star Bar in Tokyo and is made with buttered Chita Whisky, Koshu Grace Wine, aloe water, melon and soda water. 

Sexy Fish also created four alcohol-free cocktails for the menu, including the Equinox made with Seedlip Grove 42, mace, turmeric, yuzu, tonka beans and soda water.

Old Passioned

Inspired by Lobster Bar, Hong Kong

Ingredients: Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky, passion fruit, ancho chilli, verjuice and orange bitters.

Monkey Prince

Non-alcoholic

Ingredients: Pineapple, galangal, coconut, black pepper, cardamom and soda water.
