Blade Runner star fronts Campari Red Diaries 2019

Campari Group has hired Blade Runner 2049 actor Ana de Armas to star in a short film for the Campari Red Diaries 2019 as the apéritif brand celebrates 100 years of the Negroni.

War Dogs actor Ana de Armas is the latest famous face to lead the Campari Red Diaries campaign

Cuban actress de Armas will star alongside Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy in the short film, called Entering Red, which is described as “fuelled with mystery and romance”.

Directed by Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone, the film will be a “core element” of a fully integrated campaign next year.

The “suspenseful and intriguing” film will see de Armas follow scarlet clues in Milan, Italy – the birthplace of the classic apéritif.

Entering Red will also feature cameos from ‘social influencers’ and Campari’s ‘Red Hands’, six leading bartenders including Joe Schofield as the UK representative.

De Armas joins a list of leading actors who have previously fronted Campari’s iconic calendar series, including Zoe SaldanaClive OwenKate HudsonEva Green and Uma Thurman.

“It’s an incredible honour to be a part of this short movie, Entering Red, and the Campari Red Diaries campaign,” said de Armas.

“It was also a privilege to work with acclaimed director Matteo Garrone. I loved playing a character that showed such passion and curiosity on her journey of self-discovery in the beautiful city of Milan.”

“Turning 100 years old in 2019, Campari Red Diaries will bring the cocktail to life, and take viewers on a journey as they enter the red.

“The iconic serve, which Campari is a key defining ingredient, has created a great legacy and it will be amazing to see it all brought to life, with the support of great talent, Ana de Armas and Matteo Garrone but also bartenders and Campari advocates from around the world.”

Entering Red will premier in Milan with a red-carpet event on the 5 February 2019 followed by a digital launch worldwide.
