Winchester Distillery unveils Summer Garden Gin

Hampshire-based Winchester Distillery has launched its latest limited edition seasonal expression, called Summer Garden Gin.

Made in small batches, the expression uses freshly picked summer berries from local English business The New Forest Fruit Company.

Described as the “quintessential taste of an English summer garden”, the gin has a “honey-like complexity” on the palate with a “long red berry finish”.

It is recommended served over ice with tonic and garnished with strawberry halves and a sprig of fresh mint.

The next seasonal limited edition gin, Autumn Hedgerow, is scheduled to launch in late September.

Head distiller and founder of Winchester Distillery Paul Bowler said: “We love to work with and support other local producers as much as possible so we wanted to use seasonal berries grown by fellow Hampshire Fare member, The New Forest Fruit Company, in our Summer Garden Gin recipe.

“Situated between the Solent and the New Forest National Park, they are in the ideal location for growing the earliest, sweetest strawberries and blueberries to be found in the UK. These fruits complement the other botanicals wonderfully to create a heady aroma of summer in a glass.”

Summer Garden Gin is available from the distillery’s online shop and from independent retailers across the region. It is priced at £36.95 (US$49) per 700ml bottle.
