Dictador appoints Halewood as UK distributor

Colombian rum producer Dictador has appointed Halewood Wines & Spirits as its UK distributor and announced the launch dates for its ultra-premium Two Masters series.

Dictador produces a range of aged rums and gins

Halewood Wines and Spirits will take over from Proof Drinks as the exclusive UK distributor of Dictador’s spirits portfolio, which includes a range of aged rums and gins.

Cesar Triana Botero, regional manager for Western Europe at Dictador, said: “Having witnessed the Whitley Neill brand enjoy its burgeoning success in the UK off-trade, driven by Halewood’s first-rate marketing and distribution expertise, it was clear that the business would provide Dictador with a fantastic platform to accelerate its growth and strengthen its off-trade presence, in particular.”

Dictador is the latest rum brand to join Halewood’s portfolio. The UK-based distributor recently added Centenario Internacional Rum and Dead Man’s Fingers to its range, which also includes spirits from The Glasgow Distillery Company and Aber Falls Distillery.

Stewart Hainsworth, Group CEO at Halewood Wines & Spirits, said: “Dictador is an incredibly high calibre brand with a distinctive range that appeals to many discerning drinkers.

“With our focus on quality, the brand’s proposition of high grade distilling provides a great opportunity to capitalise on the growth of the super-premium rum and gin categories, and we’re looking forward to supporting the brand in expanding its reach throughout the UK.”

The Colombian rum producer has also revealed details of the release schedule for its Two Masters range of cask finished rums.

The range includes six aged expressions that have each been finished in casks from different producers around the world, including the Glenfarclas Scotch whisky distillery and Cognac house Hardy.

The range of ultra-premium rums will be released from June in Europe, and from September in the US. Prices for each expression in the range start at £400 (US$530) for the Armagnac-finished expression and reach £950 (US$1,270) for the Scotch whisky-finished bottling.
