It seems like Christmas will be here before you can say “mince pies”, but if you want to avoid the crowds and get away from any last minute shoppers there’s been a new wave of bar openings in the last month.

From rooftop ice rinks to underground hideouts, this month’s hottest bars offer something unique as well as a cosy spot to hide away from the hustle and bustle.

The Coral Room, London

Opening at The Bloomsbury Hotel in London, The Coral Room’s wooden paneled room features bespoke Murano glass chandeliers, a marble bar top and an antique mirror with brass detailing.

The bar offers a range of English sparkling wines, world whiskies and signature cocktails as well as a range of small plates to be enjoyed throughout the day.

Public, Sheffield

Launching close to Sheffield’s theatre district, Public is an intimate cocktail bar located underneath Sheffield Town Hall.

Public’s cocktail menu is split into sections including ‘Public Footpath’, featuring recipes using local ingredients, and ‘Public Awareness’ which includes cocktails made using waste products from the bar, the Knockbox City Limits infuses waste coffee grounds in Pedro Ximenez.

The food menu also has a big focus on local ingredients, with small plates and sharing food using a range of seasonal and locally-sourced produce.

Hester’s Hideout, London

Staying underground, Hester’s Hideout has opened under the streets of Exmouth Market in London.

This immersive cocktail and cabaret venue sees mixologists crafting cocktails from vintage recipes alongside modern molecular drinks.

Weekends in the underground hideaway will see performers and DJs keep the party going into the early hours of the morning. Expect snake dancers, contortionists and burlesque performers to all make an appearance at this secret spot.

Mr Stork, Singapore

Sitting atop floor 39 at luxury hotel Andaz Singapore, this newly-opened rooftop bar in the heart of Singapore features tipi’s nestled amongst the greenery where visitors can enjoy stunning views and spectacular drinks.

Order a drink at Mr Stork’s bar and wander across the rooftop, taking in the 360-degree views of the city as you enjoy drinks such as Ruby which is full of lemon, ginger, fresh mint, vermouth and Ceylon Arrack, which comes served in an elephant mug.

The Prince, London

Why just visit one bar when you can go to two bars, four restaurants and a secret garden? That’s what The Prince in West Brompton is offering drinkers this November.

The former Prince of Wales pub and four disused connecting buildings in South West London have been transformed into this unique venue.

Visitors can walk in off the street for a drink or bite to eat before they try and negotiate their way to The Prince’s secret garden terrace, located through a hidden door at the back of each venue.

Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Seattle

Rachel’s has brought its classic ginger beer and kegged cocktails to a new site in Seattle.

The new location at University Village in Seattle offers weary shoppers the chance to take five and relax with one of the bars iconic kegged cocktails, house ginger beers or soft serve floats.

Bringing a taste of classic British ginger beer to the US, Rachel’s offers weary shoppers the well-deserved afternoon cocktail or two, along with a plentiful selection of growlers to go for those home-based happy hours.

Bonsai Bar, Dublin

Bonsai​ ​Bar​ is the latest venture from chef and restaurateur Dylan​ ​McGrath​ and has opened its doors in the heart of Dublin, bringing a new concept in high-end Japanese-influenced food and drinks to the Irish capital.

Bonsai​ ​Bar​ carries an unrivalled list of luxury​ ​Japanese​ ​whiskies,​ ​authentic Japanese​ ​beers​ ​and​ ​world-renowned​ ​saké​, many of which are utilised in the bar’s bespoke cocktail menu.

The Kanto​ ​Old​ ​Fashioned​ sees Nikka Japanese whisky combined with palm sugar and grapefruit zest and the Shibuya​ is perfect for the Martini lover, made with lime-infused gin and a spritz of umeboshi salted plum.

The Skate at the Watergate Hotel, Washington

The Watergate Hotel in Washington has launched its winter rooftop ice rink, complete with a skate-up bar.

Visitors will be able to skate across the rooftop of the iconic hotel on the synthetic ice rink installed for the holiday period.

Between trips across the ‘ice’, guests can skate up to the bar to enjoy mulled wine, hot mulled cider and other winter warmers such as Bourbon-spiked hot chocolate, all while enjoying the 360 degree views of the American capital.

The Ticket Office, Yorkshire

The Ticket Office has opened in Ilkley train station, endeavouring to bring innovative cocktails to the Yorkshire town.

The new bar has a big focus on local, looking to source as many of its food and drinks ingredients from independent, local businesses as possible.

The cocktail menu boasts classics such as the Espresso Martini, alongside twists on the classics, like the Rhubarb and Ginger Negroni, and in-house creations, including the top secret Lemon Cheesecake.
