Edrington names Colombo as Asia TR head

Edrington Global Travel Retail has named Marcelo Colombo as its new commercial director for Asia Travel Retail, succeeding Ryan Hill.

Marcelo Colombo has been named as the head of Edrington Asia Travel Retail

Colombo, who will be based in Singapore, most recently held the role of marketing manager for Edrington GTR. Prior to that he was commercial director at Edrington WEBB Travel Retail in the Americas region.

He has also worked for L’Oreal Luxe in the travel retail channel, holding area management and marketing roles in the fragrances category.

“Framed within broader changes in the Edrington Global Travel Retail business and overall structure, this is another positive step as we look to strengthen the organisation and establish a leadership team of high calibre professionals,” said Igor Boyadjian, Edrington Global Travel Retail managing director.

“Asia remains a hugely strategic and influential market – particularly for The Macallan – and Marcelo’s wealth of experience and proven track record for driving commercial success and delivering marketing innovation makes him the perfect candidate for this role.

“Having been based out of Singapore for the last year he has already built a close relationship with the Asia Travel Retail team and our partners throughout the region and has developed a strong understanding of the business’ dynamics, so we expect a seamless transition as he assumes his new duties.”

He added: “I would also like to thank Ryan for his efforts and achievements during the ten years he spent with Edrington – a period during which our travel retail business, particularly in Asia, grew significantly. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Colombo commented: “I’m hugely excited to join such a dynamic team in a region that offers a wealth of opportunities for the growth and development of our brands.

“Asia has played a major role in Edrington’s growth in travel retail and I’m looking forward to building on the success we have enjoyed in the region, strengthening our reputation for innovation and excellence, as well as the partnerships with our customers.”

Boyadjian, the previous co-owner of the Edrington-Fix joint venture, was appointed Global Travel Retail managing director in January 2017.
