The award is assessed by an independent panel of judges, which this year comprises Olly Wehring, managing editor of just-drinks; Emily Harris, director of May Fox Communications; and Marcin Miller, former editor and publisher of Whisky magazine, PR and co-founder of Number One Drinks.

Previous winners include Hamish Smith Drinks International deputy editor; Laura Foster, Imbibe deputy editor; Amy Hopkins, The Spirits Business deputy editor, and Tyler Wetherall, a freelance writer.

To enter, writers must submit three pieces of writing, published online or in print between 1 January and 31 December 2016, by email before 23:59 on 7 April 2017. They must have been aged under 35 on 31 December 2016.
