Blair Bowman creates Whisky Tube Map

World Whisky Day founder Blair Bowman has co-authored a pocket guide featuring a Whisky Tube Map, which links world whiskies by flavour.

The Pocket Guide to Whisky: Featuring the Whisky Tube Map will launch on World Whisky Day

Bowman produced The Pocket Guide to Whisky: Featuring the Whisky Tube Map in collaboration with Nikki Welch, author of The Pocket Guide to Wine: Featuring the Wine Tube Map.

The book, which has not been sponsored by any brands or distilleries, will launch on World Whisky Day (20 May). It aims to give whisky novices “more confidence to try something new without the risk”.

“I’m incredibly excited about The Pocket Guide to Whisky: Featuring the Whisky Tube Map and can’t wait to unveil the Whisky Tube Map on World Whisky Day in May,” said Bowman. “I strongly believe it will make a big difference to the way people explore the world of whisky.

“With so many whiskies to choose from it can be intimidating for new whisky drinkers, who are just getting into the category.

“With the Whisky Tube Map they will easily start to find their way around the vast choice of flavours and aromas you can discover in different whiskies. I just wish it had been around when I fist started to get into whisky.”

The book is available to pre-order from Amazon for £7.99, while a preview of the Whisky Tube Map can be found on www.whiskytubemap.com.

Bowman sold the World Whisky Day concept, which he founded in 2012 as part of a university project, to luxury drinks title Hot Rum Cow in 2015. He now runs a whisky consultancy that hosts multi-sensory tastings

Nikki Welch is MSc in Gastronomy and has 15 years’ experience in the wine industry. Her Pocket Guide to Wine has sold more than 10,000 copies, while the Wine Tube Map is available as an app and online.
