New website lists NY distillery trails

An association of more than 60 New York-based distillers has launched a new website that aims to be a “one-stop source of information” about craft spirits produced in the state.

Nydistilled.com is described as a “one-stop source of information about craft spirits and their production in New York State”

Nydistilled.com is the brainchild of trade group the New York State Distillers Guild.

Five different sections of the website allow users to learn about the different distilling regions in New York, its producers, two different distillery trails, the state’s distilling history and read a “beginners guide” to distilling.

A listing of member distilleries, many of which offer tours, can be sorted by type of spirits and region.

“We are experiencing a true renaissance of distilling in New York”,” said Daric Schlesselman, of the New York Distillers Guild. “In 2013, leading New York craft distillers formed the New York State Distillers Guild to promote and advocate for the distilling industry and set a high bar for quality.

“We believe that this new website will provide a continually growing resource for the distillers, consumers and the spirits industry as a whole.”

In New York, which ranks among the top five craft spirit-producing states in the nation, the craft spirits industry has grown over 500% since 2011, according to the guild. There are now more than 150 distilleries throughout the 11 regions of the state.

It was revealed in December last year that more than 100 farm distilleries are now operating across the state of New York, marking “significant growth” since the implementation of the Craft New York Act in 2014.

The law “cuts red tape” and “eases regulations” for craft distilleries.
