Kraken recruits octopus to help singles find love

The Kraken Black Spiced Rum will help singletons find love this Valentine’s Day by recruiting a matchmaking octopus called Ken.

Ken the octopus will select winners to go on a date this Valentine’s Day

Also known as the ‘cupid of cephalopods’, Ken has been adopted by The Kraken Rum as an alternative to various dating apps such as Tinder, lonely hearts columns, and speed-dating events currently available to singletons this February.

Inspired by legendary Paul the Octopus, who correctly predicted the results of eight football matches in the 2010 World Cup, Ken will be presented with photos of potential pairings, each of which will be accompanied by a “tasty morsel”.

Hopeful daters can apply to be twinned by tweeting a selfie to @KrakenRumUK with the hashtag #Rumantics.

A shortlist will be chosen at random to enter the final selection process, where Ken the octopus will select winners to go on a date this Valentine’s Day.

Ken’s selections will be made in his tank and filmed for fans to watch on The Kraken Rum’s Facebook page on Friday 10 February.

The couple picked by Ken the Octopus will be invited to enjoy their date night courtesy of The Kraken, on Sunday 12 February at a venue in Central London.

The Kraken Rum will also offer limited edition dating kits to select winners who tweet #Rumantics over the Valentine’s weekend.

In November last year, The Kraken Black Spiced Rum unveiled a new limited edition bottle design via Proximo Spirits.
