Brown-Forman launches nutritional info site

Jack Daniel’s maker Brown-Forman has launched a website detailing its brands’ nutritional information as it seeks to help consumers make “informed decisions” about drinking.

In addition to detailing the alcohol content of a standard serve of the likes of Finlandia, vodka, Canadian Mist whisky and Herradura Tequila, the site also shows the calorie count and fat, sodium and carbohydrate contents.

Information is presented in a country-specific format, with the US, UK and Australia, Brown-Forman’s three largest markets, the initial focus. More countries and languages are to be added over the next year.

The site is available directly at nutrition.brown-forman.com and from the corporate website, with links from brand pages and social media to be added over the coming months.

Brown-Forman said it already offered nutritional information to consumers on request, but that the launch of the brand site would make communicating the details more straightforward.

“We believe the more information a consumer has, the better prepared they can be to make smart, responsible decisions about their alcohol consumption,” said Rob Frederick, Brown-Forman’s corporate responsibility director.

Brown-Forman’s move to better communicate the nutritional information of its spirits products follows a drive from Diageo last year to overhaul its responsible drinking website drinkiq.com with“significantly enhanced” nutrition, calorie and alcohol content details.
