Ray Lewis gifts Bourbon to Trump and Pence

Retired American footballer Ray Lewis is to launch a limited edition Bourbon brand and gift the first two bottles to president-elect Donald Trump and vice president-elect Mike Pence.

Ray Lewis will gift the first two bottles of Ray’s Reserve Bourbon to Donald Trump and Mike Pence

Lewis, a former linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, will release 100 bottles of Ray’s Reserve Bourbon through his distribution company Daytoon Distributors, which first launched in 2015.

All bottles will be available to purchase from 15 February 2017 until sold out. However, two bottles will be gifted as a “symbolic gesture” to Pence and Trump, since the president-elect claims not to drink alcohol.

“I have been thoroughly impressed with president-elect Trump and his desire to help inner city kids and provide better education opportunities for women,” said Lewis. “These issues are near and dear to my heart, and I’m glad that he shares in my vision.”

Ray’s Reserve is a Kentucky Bourbon sourced from an unnamed distillery. It will be the first of four alcohol brands released through Daytoon Distributors throughout 2017 and early 2018.

All profits from the sale of the 100 bottles of Ray’s Reserve will fund the Time to Shine Scholarship & Internship Program for Women, which aims to improve the education, skills and employment prospect prospects of high school female students.

Scholarships are awarded to students who have “overcome extraordinary obstacles, including poverty, domestic violence and drug abuse”.

Ray Lewis played his entire 17-year career for the Baltimore Ravens and is considered one of the best middle linebackers in American football history.

Earlier this month, a bottle of GlenDronach single malt whisky signed by Donald Trump fetched £6,000 at auction.
