Entries open for Wenneker Swizzle Masters 2017

Entries are now open for the revamped 2017 Wenneker Swizzle Masters – in which one bartender will walk away with £1,000 (US$1.2k) as well as the coveted Swizzle Master 2017 title.

Entrants must use at least a dash of Wenneker Liqueurs in every cocktail they submit

Bartenders must create an original and great-tasting cocktail recipe that can be recreated by anyone, anywhere in the world.

Each round calls for a different base spirit and theme, with just one requirement: the use of at least a dash of Wenneker Liqueur.

For this year’s competition, the format has evolved, resulting in three bigger rounds throughout the year, with three finalists from each round making it through to the grand final in November.

New to the competition is also the Wildcard entry, which will enable one extra exemplary entry from any of the three rounds to go through to the final. The 10 best will then go head-to-head for the top accolade.

Marks will be awarded based on how well the recipe sticks to the brief, the given name, presentation, aroma, taste, overall balance and how easy the drink is to make.

There will be Wenneker prizes for all heat victors, with the overall winner receiving a trophy, certificate, an annual subscription to The Spirits Business magazine and £1,000.

Bartenders can now submit recipes online for any of the rounds at www.swizzlemasters.com to be in with a chance of winning. Keep an eye out on our website for updates.

The winner of the first round will be announced online and in the March issue of The Spirits Business.

February: Rum Punch

Get creative with your favourite party punch; using your choice of Bacardi Carta Blanca or Bacardi Carta Negra with at least a dash of any Wenneker Liqueur.

May: Breakfast Martini

Using Hendrick’s gin, recipes must replicate this signature marmalade cocktail and include at least a dash of any Wenneker Liqueur.

Deadline: 2 May 2017

September: Blood & Sand

Take on this classic Scotch serve and make it your own, just be sure to use Dewar’s 12 Year Old, along with at least a dash of any Wenneker Liqueur.
