DFS opens The Whiskey House at HKIA

Travel retailer DFS Group has officially opened The Whiskey House at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) – an extensive whisky concept featuring more than 250 expressions from around the world.

From 5 January 2017, The Whiskey House will offer consumers shopping rewards and tasting experiences in addition to retail services.

Created in partnership with William Grant & Sons, the concept features more than 50 international brands with 40 different whisky expressions available for tasting each day.

Of the 250 whiskies on offer, more than 70 are exclusively available at the store.

The in-store calendar of events includes blind tastings led by brand ambassadors, and ‘meet the experts’ sessions each weekend from 4-7pm.

Social media competitions offer customers the chance to win prizes for “liking” on Facebook and “following” on Instagram. The first three passengers to connect online and arrive at The Whiskey House at 5pm on weekends, showing their connection, will win a bottle of whisky.

In addition, DFS offers 10% discounts on spirits purchased on departure for collection at Arrivals at the end of the trip.

All staff are Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET)-qualified and undergo The Whisky Ambassador training, the UK’s only accredited training course focused solely on whisky.

Brooke Supernaw, DFS Group’s senior vice president spirits, wine, tobacco, food and gifts, said, “DFS’ The Whiskey House is inspired by our customers and their love of discovery.

“At The Whiskey House, the discerning traveler can explore and indulge themselves in a world of whiskies from across the globe, enjoy tailored tastings and embark upon a unique travel experience from the moment they enter the airport.”

The Whiskey House is open now, situated in Departures East Hall at Hong Kong International Airport.

Last year, DFS Group marked the first anniversary of its Wines and Spirits Duplex store at Singapore Changi Airport with a six-week-long Cocktail Festival featuring some of the world’s best bartenders.
