Constellation creates COO role in exec reshuffle

Constellation Brands has appointed Bill Newlands to the newly created role of executive vice president, chief operating officer, at the same time as announcing further leadership changes.

A 30-year industry veteran, Newlands joined Constellation in 2015 as executive vice president and chief growth officer, and currently acts as president of the wine and spirits division.

In his new role, which will encompass the beer division, wine and spirits division, and growth organisation, Newlands will focus on advancing strategic growth opportunities across the company.

He will report to Rob Sands, president and chief executive officer.

He has ignited our approach to company-wide innovation and driven growth within our wine and spirits division. The creation of the COO role will allow Bill to bring that talent to the entire organisation and continue to fuel our momentum.”

Reporting to Newlands is Chris Stenzel, who has been promoted to executive vice president, president, wine and spirits division.

Stenzel holds more than 18 years of beverage alcohol experience and joined Constellation in 2008. Since then he has held a number of senior roles, most recently as senior vice president finance for the beer division.
Ben Dollard has been named as senior vice president, chief marketing officer and international for the wine and spirits division. Dollard joined the company in 2001 and most recently served as chief growth officer. He will report to Stenzel.
Jared Fix has been announced as senior vice president, chief growth officer, and will be responsible for driving the company’s growth strategy across the beer and wine and spirits divisions, reporting to Newlands.

Fix joined Constellation in 2015 as senior vice president and chief marketing officer, wine and spirits division.
All executive appointments are effective January 30, 2017.
